Our Barbados shortlist has three current entries from the original hotel collection: Atlantis Historic Inn, Divi Southwinds and Butterfly Beach. They offer different coastal settings. ECO Lifestyle + Lodge is closed and is no longer a recommendation.
Choose the coast before the hotel
Atlantis is the east-coast option at Tent Bay, near Bathsheba. Divi Southwinds is in the St. Lawrence Gap area, with Dover Beach across the road from its main building. Butterfly Beach is the oceanfront option at Maxwell, near Oistins.
Atlantis Historic Inn: Tent Bay
The inn’s history page connects its early years with the railway built in 1883 and describes its restoration by the Kirby/Warden families. It has a restaurant and an oceanfront pool. This is an east-coast base, rather than a substitute for a calm south-coast swimming beach.

Divi Southwinds: St. Lawrence Gap
Divi’s property information explains the position of the main building and beach facilities. Its suite accommodation may suit travellers wanting more space. The group publishes water, energy and waste initiatives; some apply only at selected resorts, so ask which are in use at Southwinds.

Butterfly Beach: Maxwell
Butterfly Beach’s own website describes oceanfront accommodation, pools and the Reef Bar + Grill. It is another south-coast choice, with different room outlooks and facilities to compare when booking.
What the sustainability evidence establishes
The original collection included environmental claims for these hotels. Those records are a starting point for questions, rather than an independent assessment of current performance. We have not established current Green Globe validity for Divi Southwinds or Butterfly Beach from the present operator pages reviewed here. That does not establish that either hotel lacks certification.
If certification determines your choice, ask for the current certificate and check its property name, scope and dates. Ask about present energy sources, water-saving equipment and food sourcing rather than assuming every hotel operates the same way.
