Glasgow is a city, so it is a smaller local-food area in this guide: there are no farm shops inside the city boundary that we could confirm, but there are three regular farmers’ markets where Scottish farmers sell direct. This page covers Partick, Shawlands and the Rail Yard at Kelvinbridge, then gives short sections for the surrounding council areas, from East Dunbartonshire to Falkirk, where we found only one or two places each.

You do not need to live on a farm to eat closer to one. A single stop you can return to, a short shopping list and a cool bag are a good start, and most of these places will tell you what came from their own land if you ask.
Which farm shop or picking farm should you choose?
Between them, Partick (second and fourth Saturdays) and Shawlands (first and third Saturdays) mean a council-run farmers’ market most Saturdays, with many of the same farms attending. The Rail Yard at Kelvinbridge runs every Saturday and adds a forager and permanent food traders.
Check each market’s social media for that week’s trader list, as not every farm attends every week.
Check the farm’s current crops, opening times and prices before travelling. Picking seasons vary, and a farm shop may sell produce without offering pick-your-own visits.

The Rail Yard Farmers Market
Map and location
Kelvinbridge Rail Yard, West End, Glasgow G4 9HB. View The Rail Yard Farmers Market on the map.
Food direct from producers, every week
The Rail Yard at Kelvinbridge started with the aim of sourcing food direct from producers and reusing public space. Its Saturday farmers’ market brings together farmers, growers, makers and collectors selling fresh Scottish produce and handmade goods, with a forager every week.
Permanent food traders on the site open all week, so it is easy to combine the market with a meal.
Visiting and buying
The farmers’ market runs every Saturday, 10am to 3pm. The permanent food traders open Monday to Sunday, 8am to 8pm.
Each week’s trader list is posted on the Rail Yard events page, and its A to Z traders directory profiles the stallholders.

Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and North Lanarkshire
We could not yet confirm any currently trading farm shop or farmers’ market in Renfrewshire, Inverclyde or North Lanarkshire on the businesses’ own websites or official listings. Until we can, the Glasgow markets on this page are the nearest places to buy from local farms. We will add verified places here when we find them.
Plan your farm visit, produce, quantities and picking dates
Choose one or two farms or farm shops that fit your route. Write down what you want, how much you need and what you will do with it when you get home. If one crop is unavailable, decide whether to choose a different farm, change the meal or return another day.
- Confirm the crop, public opening and any booking requirement.
- Ask whether you can pick yourself or buy already picked.
- Check the price unit, payment method and containers.
- Ask about access, parking and the correct visitor entrance.
